JOHN TAULBEE Born Sept. 16, 1890 Died May 19, 1924 Lettie Mary Lusby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lusby, was born in Taylor, Texas, September 16th, 1890. Was married to John Taulbee, February 5, 1911, Rev. Sebe Thomas, performing the ceremony. To this union was born two children, a son, Joseph, and an infant born four weeks ago but who passed away at the age of three weeks, just a week and four days before the mother. She was not told of the death of her babe, because of her serious condition, and in funeral services Rev. Hamilton spoke that one of the sweet surprises for the mother when she reached heaven was to be greeted by the little babe who had such a short time before so happily welcomed here by the fond parents and thirteen year old brother. Funeral services were held here at the Baptist Church on Tuesday afternoon. Every available seat in the large church was taken by friends and neighbors of this beloved woman. Her parents came to this part of the country in the early day and having been prominent in social circles and progress, a wide acquaintance had been made, and their daughter Lettie, had ever been popular for her sweet Christian character, and it was with sad hearts that so many came to pay their last respect to their friend and neighbor. The church was a bower of roses and flowers, tributes of love for the deceased and tokens of sympathy to the bereaved ones. Joseph's class of Merritt school attended the services in a body. Besides the husband, son and parents she leaves three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Stanley Berridge of Roosevelt, Okla., W. J. Lusby of Guthrie, Okla., Mrs. Lee Daugherty, Mrs. Chas. Lehne, Albert Lusby and Allen Lusby of Elk City. The deepest sympathy is expressed by all to the bereaved and in this the News Democrat family wishes to join. (29 May 1924, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): CARD OF THANKS To the many friends and neighbors who stood by us so nobly in our recent troubles, with help in nursing, flowers and every way they knew how, we say from the depths of our hearts, "Thank you," and may God's richest blessings be bestowed upon each of you is our prayer. John Taulbee, Joseph Taulbee, Joe Lusby, Ada Lusby, W. J. Lusby, Stella Berridge, Albert E. Lusby, Una Daugherty, Allen D. Lusby, Addie B.
