He was born in Jacksonville, Illinois, August 15, 1854. When a boy of 14 years he went to Kansas. There he lived for years and married Miss Annie Huddleston. To this union was born three sons, Roy, Walter and Charles. Chas. lives in Ottawa, Kansas, Walter is in Wyoming, and Roy was with his father at his death. The mother of these boys died when the youngest was quite small. Later Mr. Taylor lived in Colorado with his little boys. A few years later he came to Oklahoma and settled on a claim near El Reno. In 1898 he was again married to Miss Basinger. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive their father. Mr. Taylor was an influential member of the U. B. Church and was superintendent of the Sunday school. His last work in the church was conducting the exercises at the Christmas tree. The Woodman of The World, of which he was a member, marched to the depot with the body which was shipped to El Reno, Tuesday for burial, the lodge at El Reno took charge of the body and laid it away in the cemetery of that city.
