All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ THOMAS, MIRANDA (28 Nov 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Miranda Amelia Williams was born near Houston, Texas, August 30, 1861. She was happily married Feb. 17, 1881 to Isom H. Thomas, and they emigrated to Oklahoma in 1892. She joined the Methodist church at an early age and hers was a beautiful consecrated life. Born to their union were ten boys and two girls, eight of whom with the devoted husband survive her. Three of the sons died in infancy, and one girl, the wife of J. B. Austin, passed away, Aug. 6, 1921. The surviving children are: Mrs. Almedia Dykes, Hammon; Riley, Benjamin, Wilburn, Harlen, Marion, all of Hammon, Okla., and Joe and George of Tucumcari, N. Mex. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Hammon by Rev. C. E. Rhoads, pastor of the Methodist Church of Cheyenne, in the presence of a large concourse of friends.
