He was born in France 50 years ago. (4 Jun 1914, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): We are sorry to chronical (sic) the death of our friend and brother Joe Thomasy, who came out on a mighty deep from France as a sailor boy, at the age of nine years. His ship sprung a leak like the great Titanic and went down. His cousin threw him out to swim or drown and he swam and floated to a nearby Island and was picked up by another ship and kept until he was nineteen years of age and then came over to the United States. He came to Oklahoma sixteen years ago at the age of thirty-two and filed on 160 acres of Oklahoma's best land and proved up on it. He married a Miss Aldridge, a daughter of Rev. J. H. Aldridge, who survives him. Mr. Thomasy was a man of sterling integrity and was liked by all who knew him. The friends and neighbors of his community extend their heart felt sympathy to his bereaved family. E. H. Curtis. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
