(4 Jan 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): WALTER S. THOMPSON DEAD. After a couple days illness of heart trouble, Walter S. Thompson, a bachelor, died Saturday morning, at the Elk City Hospital. He had lived on a farm southwest of town for many years. His nephew, F. S. Thompson, of Guernsey, Wyoming, accompanied by his wife came in response to a telegram and the funeral was not held until Tuesday afternoon. It was held at Ural with Rev. Bigsbee, officiating, and Mr. Robinson in charge of interment. Mr. Thompson had a stroke of paralysis a year ago but after being in the hospital a while seemed to fully recover. He was about eighty-two years old, his nephew said, though would not have been taken for one that old. He has a half brother in Oklahoma City and his death is expected at any time, as he is suffering from cancer. The deceased was a most exemplary man, respected by all his neighbors and friends. (10 May 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): James M. Thompson of Redfield, Iowa, a brother of the late W. S. Thompson came in last week to find out about his death, which he had not heard of until just recently. He says there were twelve children in the family. As one of the heirs he truly appreciated the kindness of the neighbors and friends in their ministrations to him. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
