(Oct 17, 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Frank Turbyfill, 75, was attending the funeral of his uncle, J. H. Turbyfill, yesterday afternoon and as he was leaving the Broadway Methodist church was stricken by a heart attack and died a few minutes later. A double funeral was held in the Dempsey cemetery (Roger Mills County) at 3:30 this afternoon. The nephew had been a close friend of his uncle's for many years. Being only a few years younger than his uncle they were inseparable comrades since boyhood. Frank Turbyfill was a bachelor, and had been raised by and lived with his uncle and aunt. For the last four years he had been with his uncle most of the time, due to his own broken health and inability to maintain his business. The shock caused by the death of J. H. Turbyfill is credited with the death of the other. J. H. Turbyfill is survived by his widow and nine children. His daughters are: Mrs. Kansas Smith of Mount Vestal, Colo.; Mrs. Effie Lee, Ada, Okla.; Mrs. Lear Olsen, Grimes, Okla.; and Mrs. Bessie Smith, Doxey, Oklahoma. The sons living are: John Turbyfill, Elk City; Bill Turbyfill, living near Grimes, Okla.; Luther Turbyfill, Cheyenne, Okla.; Hullum Turbyfill, Midway, Okla.; and J. W. Turbyfill, Ada, Oklahoma. The only relative of the two men known living is Frank Turbyfill believed to be some place in Texas. This relative is the half-brother of J. H. Turbyfill. The services were conducted by the Gentry-Killough funeral home. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
