TURLEY, NORA EDNA
(2 Nov 1904, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. Miller M. Turley
Died at her home in this city, on Saturday, October 29, 1904, Nora Edna,
wife of Miller M. Turley.  Mrs. Turley was born at Fulton, in Calloway
County, Mo.; Sept. 12, 1874.  She became a Christian in her early
girlhood, joining the Christian Church when twelve years of age.  She was
married to Miller M. Turley, February 15, 1898.  In September, 1901, they
came to Elk City, Oklahoma.  Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Wise,
also removed from Missouri to Oklahoma and now live near Elk City.  They
were with their daughter throughout her illness.  There are left one
little son, Richard, aged four years, and the baby daughter, three months
old.
Mr. and Mrs. Turley and the little ones had just returned from a happy
visit to the old home in Missouri when the serious illness, typhoid fever,
attacked her.  To dispel the disease, every means known to medical science
and skilled nursing was tried, everything that loving hands could do was
done, but all to no avail.  The hour had come, as it will come, some time,
to us all.  After three weeks of suffering her gentle spirit took its
flight.
The funeral ceremonies were conducted by Rev. J. B. Conley, at the
Christian Church.  The largest gathering ever assembled in Elk City upon
so sad an occasion was gathered at the church where the obsequies were
held, and followed the casket to its last resting place in Elk City
Cemetery, for Mrs. Turley was universally beloved.   She was a filial
daughter, a devoted wife, a model mother, unselfish, faithful and true in
all of life's relations.
