(27 Jan 1921, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
DEATH OF YOUNG GIRL
Miss Leona Turner, the fourteen year old daughter of J. Turner, rural
route carrier out of Doxey, died Monday night of smallpox and
complications.
(3 Feb 1921, Sayre Newspaper, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK):
DOXEY GIRL DIED LAST WEEK
Smallpox Complications Claimed Young Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Turner.
Leona, 15 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Turner, of Doxey, died
last week from complications following an illness from smallpox.
The young lady was a favorite among the younger set of the Doxey section,
and her death has cast a gloom over the entire community, while everyone
over the entire county extends their sympathy to the parents and family in
their bereavement.
