The child was born September 13, 1921, and died September 16, 1928. Interment was made in Carter cemetery, the Medford brothers officiating. Gentry-Killough was in charge of funeral arrangements. (21 Sep 1928, Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Harley Van Buren, little son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Van Buren, died at their home near Carter on last Sunday afternoon, having been ill less than one week with an acute attack of appendicitis. Little Harley was seven years old. He was a bright fine boy, a pride and joy in the home and just how much his sweet presence will be missed from that home will be realized only by his parents and little brother. Yet, not only will he be missed by these but he also has a host of relatives and other friends who are sad because he has passed away. There is also a little desk left vacant at school and little boys and girls are feeling the shadow of his passing. The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the tent where the meeting has been in progress, Rev. Harry Medford preaching the funeral sermon. The stage decorations and the flowers were beautiful. A very large crowd was present at both the funeral services and at the cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
