M. Vaughn Nannie Price Vaughn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison, was born in Calloway county, Missouri, on November 20th, 1868, and departed this life on June 18, 1928, at 10:30 p.m., in Elk City, Oklahoma, at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 28 days. She was united in marriage with T. M. Vaughn in Calloway county, Mo., on January 8, 1888. To this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters. She and her husband resided in Missouri until 1907 when they moved to Coffeyville, Kansas, and in 1909, they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, where they have since made their home. One son, Harry, preceded his mother in death in 1897, and a daughter Myrtle, also passed away in October 1904. The husband and the following named children and their families survive their mother: Fred Vaughn, Clarence Vaughn, Mrs. Byron Hager, and Mrs. Paul Phelps, all of whom reside in the community of Elk City, and ministered to their mother in her last illness in a tender and affectionate way. Her mother, Mrs. M. S. Harrison of Elk City, and two brothers, S. C. Harrison of Elk City, and W. E. Harrison of Fulton, Mo., also survive. There are also five grandchildren. Sister Vaughn became a Christian in early womanhood and remained steadfastly in Christian faith and service until her death. She and her husband have been members of this congregation for nearly twenty years. She was not only respected and loved by her brothers and sisters in the church but by all in the community who had the privilege of knowing her intimately. Her life has been a blessing to the home, the church and the community, and all were better because she lived. Funeral services were conducted by Carl V. Covey, Pastor of the First Christian church, on June 20, 1928, at 2:30 p.m., and interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery, Elk City, Okla. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
