K. Vint was born in Bloomingdale, Ill., on May 13, 1845, and died in Hammon, Oklahoma, Sept. 22, 1923. He was nearly a year, suffering from hardening of the arteries. When 19 years of age he joined the Congregational church and when moving to Hammon and his own church was not there, he attended the Baptist church where he taught the Bible class and was ever ready to do all he could. It was from that church the funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23 when a large crowd gathered to pay their respects to one they loved and honored. The services were conducted by Rev. W. R. Trent. Interment was made in Hammon cemetery (Red Hill Cemetery, Roger Mills county). For thirty years he was associated with the Lewis Publishing Co., and wrote much history of the old settlers and pioneers. In 1907 he moved to Oklahoma and lived on a farm near Hammon most of that time. Two years ago he moved to town and was there at the time of his death. He was a good neighbor, and always had a jolly disposition, his friends ever enjoying being in his company. He led a true, consistent christian life, was a good, kind husband, a most devoted father and a true and faithful friend. He leaves a wife and seven children, three sons and four daughters, one of the latter being Mrs. Charles Ardman, of Hammon, the other children live in other states. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
