(20 Feb 1913, Thursday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): W. H. Walker, a former citizen of Elk City and one of the pioneers of this part of the state, died at Mineral Wells, Texas where he had been for some time on account of poor health. Mr. Walker is well known by the earlier settlers here and until a few years ago, made his home in Elk City. The body will be brought here for burial. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. B. E. Taylor of Carnegie, Oklahoma. (27 Feb 1913, Thursday, Elk City Record, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Died. W. H. Walker died suddenly Feb. 18, 1913, at Mineral Wells, Texas, where he had gone for his health two week's previous. He was born in Tarrant county, Texas, in 1865. He was married to Miss Dora Rodgers in 1887. His wife and five children survive; Mrs. Neta Walker of Miami, Texas and Harvey, Pearl, Effie and Flora are at home with their mother. In 1885 he joined the Cumberlain Presbyterian church at the time of his death, being a member of the Merritt church. Mr. Walker was one of the pioneer cattlemen of this section of Oklahoma. He homesteaded a farm 4 miles southwest of Elk City. He has ever been an honest, upright citizen and did much for the upbuilding of the communities in which he lived. Funeral was held from the Presbyterian church at Elk City, Feb. 21, conducted by Rev. Taylor of Carnegie, Okla., and in charge of the Woodmen of the World. Interment at Elk City cemetery. (6 Mar 1913, Sayre Standard, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Dora B. Walker of Doxey was in the city Monday looking after probate matters in the county court connected with the estate of W. H.
