WALKER On Sunday afternoon about three o'clock the remains of Mrs. Frances Caroline Walker was laid to rest in the Page cemetery, after funeral services conducted in the Page Methodist church, by this writer. (Washita County, Okla.) Sister Walker had been a great sufferer in the last years of her life, and while her going was very sudden, yet not unexpected. She died while away from home, taking treatment at Elk City. She was a woman of faith and fidelity to her profession, and even in her last years, was adding to her virtues in the Christian life. She died about noon on Thursday, Dec. 15th. There were three sons, and 1 daughter, 1 brother and 1 sister left to sorrow her going: S. B. Walker in Iowa, Bert Walker of Cordell, S. N. Walker of Foss, R. F. D. and Mrs. Wm. Phillips in Iowa, are her children. Sister Walker was born October 23, 1849, at Winchester, Van Buren County, Iowa. Her maiden name was Stonebraker. She was married to Geo. A. Walker on March 20, 1866 and to them 12 children were born, 8 of whom passed out of this life in childhood and infancy. Her husband died also on October 29, 1896. She was converted before her marriage and joined the Lutheran church but, after coming to Oklahoma about 19 years ago she joined the Methodist church at Page, and continued in the membership of the same until it pleased the Lord to bring her to the "Church and general assembly of the first-born" in that upper and better world. We sorrow with the loved ones but point them all to the "Land that is fairer than day" to which we have reasons to believe this good mother and sister has gone. Thos. H. Ward. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
