A. Watson, who is spending the holidays in Ft. Wroth was stricken with appendicitis Saturday morning and taken to the hospital where he was operated on within three hours. A telegram from Mrs. Watson, Monday says that he is resting well and will be out in a couple of weeks. (6 Jan 1925, Tuesday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Pat Watson's Son Dead Our correspondent from Sayre told last week of the illness of John Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Watson of that place, who underwent operation for appendicitis, at Dallas, Texas, where he was spending the holidays. The young man died and will be buried in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery this afternoon. (9 Jan 1925, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): John Watson, the twenty year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Watson died in a hospital in Dallas, Texas, Sunday night about 11 p.m. after an illness of a week and one day. John went to Dallas to spend the holidays with relatives and was taken ill December 27th. He was taken to the hospital and operated on for appendicitis but the doctors held out little hope for his recovery from the beginning. Death came to relieve his sufferings a week later. His body was brought to Sayre, Monday night and the funeral held at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon after which the burial service was held at the Doxey-Sayre Cemetery.
