Wayland All who knew Mrs. Wayland will remember her as a noble wife, a true mother and unselfish friend. The influence of her sweet christian character will ever remain one of the precious memories for those who loved her. She professed religion at twelve years of age and ever remained faithful to the vows she made at that time when joining the M. E. Church South and was always a faithful attendant and worker in the church when physically able. She was home loving, looking after and caring for the members of her family, cheering them on, giving words of advice and teaching them the path of right. They loved, honored her and respected her teachings. They know that while she rests from her labors, the influence of her life will never die and they have the blessed hope of being a reunited family in Heaven. Many neighbors and friends attended the services at the M. E. Church South last Thursday afternoon, showing the love and respect of those who had been associated with her. The deepest sympathy was expressed for the bereaved husband and children. Biographical Eliza Jane Powell was born near Fayette, Howard Co., Mo., September 10th, 1856.
