D. West departed this life early Sunday morning. Her many friends had known for some time that her days were few, yet when the word was given out that she had passed away, it seemed they were not ready for the message, and so much sympathy was expressed for the husband, sons, in the first separation of this happy home, and so much was gone with the dear wife and mother, who had always made home the best place on earth for the loved ones. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, South, at 3 p.m., January 3rd, conducted by Rev. D. W. Brashear in the absence of the pastor, Rev. Shaw, who was ill. Beautiful flowers were in evidence, the gift of the post office employees, Postmaster Flournoy, a sister from Dallas, Texas, and from the lodges, Knights and Ladies of Security and the Woodman Circle of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Fair Lawn cemetery. Miss Callie Fox was born in Garvin county, Oklahoma, February 14th, 1876, was married to T. D. West in 1892, departed this life in Elk City, Jan. 2nd, 1916. Her husband and two sons survive her, Devore aged 17 years and Russell, aged 14 years. Two sisters and one brother are left to mourn her loss; Mrs. M. L. Barnett of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. W. S. Hurst of Wanette, Okla.,; and Henry Hawkins of Fort Worth, Tex. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
