April 1993) Asa Raymond Wickens was born October 7, 1901 in Marietta, OH, to Martha Jane and Edward Thomas Wickens, and passed away April 27, 1993 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 20 days. Asa moved with his parents to Ingersoll, Oklahoma, in September of 1907. He was living in Yukon, Oklahoma, when he married Vina Leola (Myers) on September 3, 1944, in Strong City, Oklahoma. They moved to several communities where he was a Nazarene Minister including Lively, Cooperton and Vinson, before moving to Strong City in 1949. They moved to Cheyenne in 1950 before returning to Strong City in 1952. Asa and Vina were in Garber, Oklahoma, from 1961 until his retirement in 1965 when they moved to Elk City to make their home. He was a member of the Elk City Church of Nazarene and had been an ordained elder since 1946 He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 1993, at the Elk City Church of the Nazarene officiated by Rev. Charles Stroud. Interment will be in the White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Savage-Whinery Funeral Service. Survivors include a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
