(20 Mar 1902, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): We are pained to chronicle the death of Mrs. Mary L. Williams at Sayre, O. T., where for three months she has been under treatment for perotinous edema, from which she had suffered for three and one-half years. She passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 1902, at 1:40, surrounded by her loving husband, relatives and friends, who mourn her departure and loved her for her noble character and mild, pleasant disposition. She was born in Lynn county, Kan., at the old Barclay homesite 4 April 1874; married February 15, 1895, to B. F. Williams, and moved to Oklahoma in January, 1900. The remains were taken to Bushong, Kan., accompanied by her husband, mother and sister, where the funeral services were held. She was laid to rest beside her father at Americus, Kan. Besides her sorrowing husband, she leaves a mother, Mrs. Ephraim Barclay of Kansas City, one sister, Mrs. L. M. Wadsworth of Kansas City and four brothers, George and Henry Barclay, Grand Junction, Iowa, Thomas Barclay, Sayre, Okla., and James Barclay, Grimes, Okla. (27 Mar 1902, Thursday, Elk City Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. J. Barclay and family were called to Sayre last Monday to attend the bedside of his dying sister, Mrs. Frank William (sic). Mr. Barclay has the sympathy of all during his great sorrow and bereavement of one so dearly beloved as a sister, but let us be content, for God is good and will comfort us in time of trouble. Mrs. Frank Williams departed this life Monday night, March 17, 1902. The remains were taken to Kansas for interment. Mrs. Williams was a good woman and greatly beloved by all who knew her. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
