C. Willison of this city received a telegram Friday evening of the death of their son Elmer Willison of Boston, Mass. While he had been ill for some time, reports had come that he was improving and his brother Albert, who had been with him for several weeks, had returned to his home in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Willison were looking forward to having their son visit them here, hoping the change of climate would be beneficial to him. The news of his death came as a great shock. Because of the great distance they were unable to go to Boston in time for the funeral. While we had never met Elmer Willison, we were interested in him because of the sweet friendship of his loved ones here, so we were hoping some day we might be able to make his acquaintance. Elmer Willison was born in Fultonham, Ohio, January 4th, 1888, and died in Boston, Mass., June 8th 1917, aged 29 years, 5 months and 4 days. Interment was made in Boston on June 10th. He leaves a wife also a son five years old, besides his parents and three brothers, Albert, Clarence and Lawrence Willison. Deceased was taken sick a year and a half ago with the Hodgkin disease which is the absence of blood corpuscles and which has always been considered incurable. He underwent an operation under the head surgeon of medical department in Cornell University and commenced to improve. He had a splendid situation with the Hallett-Davis Piano Co., of New York City, who held him in high regard and believing a traveling position would be better for him, where he could be more out of doors, the firm made him superintendent of their branch houses as far West as Chicago, his headquarters being at Boston. He seemed to be regaining his health, when the first of the year he suffered from the grippe. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
