WRIGHT, RAYMOND
(18 Nov 1921, Friday, Elk City Press, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK):
Raymond Wright died Nov. 15, after a three weeks' illness of typhoid
fever.  Funeral services were at the Methodist church in Carter, November
16.
(18 Nov 1921, Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
Raymond Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Wright of Carter, died at their
home here at 5:45 Tuesday evening after suffering for about 24 days with
that dreadful disease, typhoid fever.  For several days before his death
he was very low but his parents and attending physicians still had hopes
up to the day of his death that a change would be made for the better.
Raymond was always a good studious boy, always forward in his grades and
very popular with those with whom he associated.  The fact was proven by
the large number who were in attendance at his funeral.  He will be sadly
missed by his loving father and mother whose grief in the loss of their
son was almost more than they could bear.
The Senior class from Elk City was down to attend the funeral and to pay
their last respects to their schoolmate.  The Carter school was also
dismissed for the funeral and the pupils carried to the cemetery in the
trucks where they marched to the grave.  The floral offerings of both
schools were beautiful, as well as those of other friends.
The funeral was preached at the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon by
Rev. Locks, where a large crowd, far more than could gain entrance to the
church, were assembled.  After the funeral services the long procession
followed the remains to their last resting place in the Carter cemetery,
the basketball team from Elk City acting as pall-bearers.
