(11 Aug 1927, Elk City Newspaper, Elk city, Beckham Co, OK): ZAHN Bernard Frederick Zahn was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma, September 7, 1910, and died in Pampa, Texas, August 8, 1927, at the age of 16 years, 11 months and one day. Bernard was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Zahn, who formerly lived here and still call Elk City their home. The family moved from here to Pampa, Texas, in December 1926, where Bernard passed peacefully to sleep Monday, August 8, at 8:25 P.M. The body was brought to Elk City, where the funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Church August 11, 1927, at 10 A.M., and laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery, Rev. Father Geerhart conducting the services. The family are old and highly respected citizens of this city, and Barnard was a clean, manly boy, with good habits, and a consistent member of the Catholic Church. For the past year and a half he had attended St. Gregory's Institute in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was planning to attend St. Edward's Institute at Denton, Tex., the ensuing term, when he would be graduated from the 12th grade. He leaves in the immediate family, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Zahn and one sister, Eleanor. The many friends of the family extend their sympathy. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
