BABCOCK, L. B.
(9 June 1921, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Died.  L. B. Babcock, formerly of Erick, but lived in the Mayfield
community for the past three years died at his home Saturday afternoon at
2:30 after a lingering illness of internal cancer.  The remains were laid
to rest in the Buffalo cemetery Sunday at 2 o'clock.  An obituary will
follow later.

Former Resident Dead
Mr. L. B. Babcock, died at his home near Mayfield, Oklahoma, Saturday,
June 4th, at 2:30 o'clock of cancer of the stomach.  Mr. Babcock was born
at Tuxedo Park, N. Y., in 1877 and resided at that place until 1907 when
he came west and located at Mangum, Okla.  In 1910 he came to Erick and
engaged in the cement and plastering business and some of the most
substantial buildings in and around Erick are monuments of his skill.
In 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Mae Carpenter of Sussex, N. J. 
To this union four children were born, George and Nora at home, and Mrs.
J. W. McMillan of Erick and Mrs. W. W. McCathren of Texola.
The funeral was held at Buffalo Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock the Rev.
J. R. Montgomery officiating.  The remains were laid to rest in the
Buffalo cemetery.
He is survived by his wife and four children, also three sisters and four
brothers, who reside at Tuxedo Park, N. J.
