B. Bailey, age 84 years, 7 months and 20 days. Miss Roda Johnson was born in Madison county, Arkansas, July 6th, 1844. There she grew to womanhood. She was married to Bennett B. Bailey, February 6th, 1860. To this union twelve children were born. All living expect two who preceded her in death. She later came to Claremore, Oklahoma in the year of 1920, and resided at that place until her illness proved such a long duration, she was removed to the home of her daughter Mrs. Mary Spencer near Mayfield, Oklahoma, August 19th, 1928. Here she remained until her death February 26th, 1929. She was a devoted Christian, uniting with the church in the year of 1868, at the age of twenty-four years. She lived that beautiful life as one does that has anchored the soul in the heaven of rest. In all her long sufferings, she was so patient, kind and effectionate (sic) to all around her or near her bedside. She never failed a smile or word of cheer to welcome those that visited her. We cannot feel that she is dead, only asleep in the Lord, to rest until the resurrection morning. We only feel that heaven is more brighter for her entrance and a dearer place for us all. It is a sorrowful loss to her loved ones, but their loss is heavens gain as the Apostle Paul writes, "she kept the faith and fought the good fight." She has that sweet promise of those that endure to the end. The children are Frank Bailey of Haskell, Oklahoma, John of DeQuenn, Arkansas. T. J. of Elcentral, California, Calvin of Denver, Colorado. William of Yuma, Arizona, George of Shamrock, Texas, Earl of Mayfield, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Lucy Peters of Oakland, California. Mrs. Nora Terry, Bard, of New Mexico, and Mrs. Mary Spencer of Mayfield. The latter caring for her with all love and kindness as a daughter could do for a mother. The entire community extends their sympathy to the bereaved ones especially the aged companion, whom she had been with 69 years, left blind to sit lonely and wait his call. Rev. Ed Taylor, Pastor of the Christian church of Sweetwater, conducted the funeral service. Songs requested and sang were. "The Vacant Chair" and "Mother and Home", "Where the Soul of Man never dies." and others. The hearse from Erick carried the body to the Sanders cemetery. There the remains were laid to rest to sleep that sweet sleep only to awaken in the house of the Lord, undisturbed forever. A friend and neighbor - Bessie Garrison.
