Sweetwater Pioneer Buried in Erick Cemetery. Funeral services for William Banks, 72, pioneer citizen of Sweetwater, who died here Saturday night, following a prolonged illness of heart trouble, were held in the First Christian Church, Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. J. Bradshaw of Sayre. Pall bearers were members of the local lodge, I. O. O. F., and interment was had in Erick Cemetery under the direction of D. G. Fatheree, Funeral Director. Deceased was a native of Missouri and moved to Texas in the early day later removing to Oklahoma settling in the Sweetwater community some forty years ago where he lived until his death. For twelve years he was a Deputy U. S. marshal, holding a commission for that length of time under the late John H. Burford, Judge of the U. S. Dist. Court at Guthrie, during territorial days. He was a strong believer in law and order and stated that during his life time some 20 years of which was spent as a law enforcing officer it never was necessary for him to use a fire arm to enforce his mandates. Surviving are his wife, three daughters, two sons, four brothers and two sisters. Another good man has passed to his reward. Peace to his noble soul.
