Mr. A. G. Gillum. Dear Sir: Well, this rainy weather has put me out of a regular job before supper time and so I am doing several irregular ones. We have been the hardest hit here this year of any time since I came, 12 years ago. The cattlemen all busted three years ago, we have made no wheat for two years - to speak of - and this year our section made very little grain and much of it not even fodder. Cotton was extremely short even in the flats but people are getting by pretty good. We hare finishing a $70,000.00 court house and beginning about $150,000.00 worth of road work. Taxes are beginning to resemble the "sooner" variety. Our total for all purposes this year runs from $3.05 to $4.20 on the hundred. I heard that you have been through here a time or two and didn't stop this is to warn you not to let that happen again. If you don't aim to stop better go around for I will have the grand jury indict you for something. Am elected again for the same office. Run over some Sunday. Your friend, W. H. Brimberry. (26 Apr 1923, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Word was received in Erick this week announcing the death of W. H. Brimberry, who formerly lived in Erick, but who has been located at Silverton, Texas. Judge Brimberry, as he was known by his many friends here, was at one time our city school superintendent, he having made one of the best grades ever recorded in old Greer county. He also was connected with the Democrat for several years, and we found him to be one of the best educated men in books that we had met in this section. It is with a sad heart we chronic his death. Judge was like a brother to us, having worked and lived with us for a number of years. May his spirit rest in peace. The remains were laid to rest in the Silverton cemetery by the Masonic lodge of that city. (Research: Census, 1910, Oklahoma, Beckham Co, Erick Wd 1, ED 10, pg 2A, #24/24 (T624-1243): William H.
