BROOKS, JAMES T.
(30 Apr 1908, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
J. T. Brook (sic) is Dead.
J. T. Brooks, one of the old time settlers of this vicinity and a
substantial citizen, died at his home six miles east of Erick last
Saturday morning after only a brief illness with pneumonia.  He was taken
on Saturday before and his condition was serious from the first.
Mr. Brooks came to this country from DeMoine (sic), Iowa, and it has been
through his influence that many of our most substantial citizens have been
induced to leave Iowa and come to this country, many of whom have
comfortable homes here now.  At the time of his death he was one of our
largest real estate owners and had much other property.
He is survived by his wife and several sons and daughters, here and in
Iowa, to mourn his demise.
The remains were interred in the Erick cemetery last Sunday, witnessed by
a large number of friends and many of his relatives.
The Altruist extends condolence to the bereaved wife and relatives.
