Age 20 years, 6 months and 20(sic) days. Martin leaves to mourn his departure of this life his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brooks, and five brothers and three sisters. His brothers are Alford, Marlin, Claud, Ross and Leon all of Erick, Okla. His sisters are, Mrs. Jeff Bracey, of Texola, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ralph Elliott of Ajo, Arizona, and Miss Veneda Brooks of Erick, Oklahoma. Martin was apparently in good health until a few days before his death, he was brought to the Erick hospital for an operation for appendicitis, but seem to have grown worse from the time of his operation, living only a few days. He fought a brave and courageous fight for his life, but two days before his death he realized that the end was near and told his friends and loved ones that he was going home to God, there to await the coming of his loved ones. Many hours before his death were spent in sweet communion with his Lord, whom he met with perfect confidence at the close of his short life. Martin was loved and admired by those who knew him. This was demonstrated by the hundreds who gathered about his bier to pay their last respects to him on the day of his funeral. He was converted and joined the Methodist church of Texola, Oklahoma, August 6th, 1922. He was also an active member of the M. W. A. of Erick, Oklahoma, which organization officiated at the grave. Rev. Alva R. Hutchinson, pastor of the Methodist church of Erick, Oklahoma, preached his funeral in the Methodist church at Texola and his body was laid to rest in the Texola cemetery. We wish to thank our friends for the sympathy and kindness shown us during the illness and death of our son and brother. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Brooks, Erick. Mr. and Mrs. Alford Brooks, Erick. Mr. and Mrs. Marlin Brooks, Erick. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bracy, Texola. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ellett, Ajo, Ariz. Ross, Leon and Venda Brooks, Erick.
