Johnee Ethel Brown, age 34 years, 10 months and 19 days, died at her home in the Sweetwater community, Dec. 30, 1922. Mrs. Brown has been in very poor health for the past year, and all that loving hands and medical skilled could do was done. The funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Monday, January 1, and the remains were laid to rest in the Erick cemetery. She leaves a husband, A. O. Brown, two small boys and her brother, Chas. Herring, who have the sympathy of our people in this sad hour. (4 Jan 1923, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. ORVILLE BROWN DEAD. Mrs. O. A. Brown of Herring, who has been in Elk City since last August taking treatment for Bright's Disease was taken to Sweetwater last Friday to the home of her father-in-law, A. B. Brown, as she had so frequently requested to go. She was able to get up for breakfast the next morning and seemed much better, but on Sunday morning took worse and passed away at eight o'clock. She will be remembered by many of our citizens as Miss Johnnie Herring, and was a niece of F. E. Herring, who with his wife came out to attend the funeral services, which were held at Erick, and she was laid to rest by the side of her parents there. Her sister, Mrs. Childress, died last fall and was buried in the Elk City cemetery. Among others who attended the funeral of Mrs. Brown, were her brother C. E. Herring of Herrington, Kansas, and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Lockstone of Weatherford, C. L. Brown of Enid, Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Young, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Young, Ray Brown, R. N. Linville and son Bob, and Miss Ruby Redmond and two nieces from Clinton. Mrs. Brown was married to A. O. Brown fourteen years ago and is survived by her husband and two children, Clarence, aged thirteen and A. O. Jr., aged nine.
