(1 Jan 1925, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Susan A. Bryce, born Feb. 1, 1856, at Greenville, South Carolina, Died Dec. 21, 1924. She was married to F. S. C. Bryce Sept. the 6th, 1871. To them were born 12 children, nine of whom still live to recall with great joy her loyal christian life: J. R. Bryce of Snyder, Okla.; C. F. Bryce of Erick; E. R. Bryce of Altus; E. A. Bryce of Duncan; Mrs. D. L. Patterson of Erick; Mrs. C. K. Conwell of Altus; Eudora Velvin of Erick; and Ellen Bryce still at home, are the children who have the blessings as great as could be received from a great mother. She was not old, yet she was ready to go. She was not young yet she had great and happy experiences. Bro. Bryce being a Methodist preacher and coming to the west in the early day necessitated deprivations and hardships which are possible only by the help of God and a noble wife. Her children for whom she prayed, must have a demonstration of that for which she was praying, and that is possible only through a great mother. Communities when a few miles isolated them from each other she lived in the presence of God so naturally and effectively that it was soon known that God was working His way west.
