E. N. Carlson, pioneer citizen of Sweetwater, died Sunday in Denver, Colorado, according to a message received here by Jno. Elms, Tuesday. The remains arrived here Wednesday morning accompanied by Mrs. Carlson, wife of deceased and were conveyed to the late home by D. G. Fatheree, Director, where burial was to be had Thursday afternoon. Erick Masonic Lodge was to have charge of last rites. (17 Sep 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Crane have returned from Sweetwater where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Crane's father, E. N. Carlson, 53, who for 18 years was a resident of the Sweetwater community. Mr. Carlson died in a hospital in Denver, Colo., after being there for ten days for treatment. Although Mr. Carlson had not been well for several months his condition was not considered critical and his death came unexpected. Mrs. Carlson and her daughter, Mrs. Crane and Mr. Crane traveled to Denver and returned with the body. The funeral services were in charge of the Masonic order of Erick. Mr. Carlson was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1877. He was brought to the United States by his parents when less than a year old and settled in Nebraska, where his mother now lives. He became a member of the First Christian Church when twenty-one years of age. He was married to Miss Katherine Jurgenson, at Crofton, Nebr., April 23, 1902. Ten years later Mr. Carlson moved with his family to Oklahoma where he bought land two and one-half miles northeast of Sweetwater. (sic) (25 Sep 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Eric Nathaniel Carson (sic) was born near Stockholm, Sweden, September 12th 1876, passed away in Denver, Colorado, September 7, 1930, where he had gone to consult a specialist. At the age of six months, with his parents he came to the United States. They settled at Green Island, Nebraska, and from there they moved a homestead in Knox County, Nebraska, where he received his education and early training. At the age of 21 he was converted and united with the Christian church. On April 23rd, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Jurgensen at Bloomfield, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded their father to "The Great Beyond" namely Elmer G., Margaretta, and Eugene J. In 1912 with his family he moved to the present home, two and one-half miles northwest of Sweetwater, Oklahoma. Funeral services were held at the home by Rev. Morris, pastor of the M. E. Church of Erick, Thursday, September 11th, at 3:00 p.m. From there, the body was conveyed to its last resting place, Mulberry Cemetery, where the Masonic Order had charge of burial. He was a true Christian, good citizen, kind and affectionate husband and father, and leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, three daughters, and one son. Mrs. LeRoy Allen, of Sweetwater, Oklahoma; Mrs. W. E. Crane, of Elk City, Oklahoma; Miss Irene and Eric N.
