COOPER, J. M.
(21 Dec 1905, The Republican, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
This morning about 8:45 o'clock Rev. J. M. Cooper died at his home at
Erick after a brief illness.  Mr. Cooper was born in North Carolina in Feb
1837, was married to Miss Mary Glance in the year 1860.  They moved to
Cook county Texas in 1860 and came to Greer county to reside in 1899.  Mr.
Cooper has been a minister in the M. E. Church South for 45 years and was
greatly loved and esteemed for his upright, consistent living.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his widow and nine children - five of whom were
present when death came.  Mrs. Cynthia O'Kiley (sic), Mrs. Laura Windlow,
Samuel, Charles and Robert Cooper.  Sons-in-law were also at Mr. Cooper's
bedside when he died.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow Friday Dec 22 by Rev. Buchanan,
pastor of the M. E. Congregational church.  Interment will be in the Erick
cemetery.
