CORNETT, MARY
(1 Dec 1904, Greer County Republican, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Little Mary Cornet (sic), aged 5 years, 11 months and 23 days, died at the
home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Berry Cornett, about 3 o'clock last
Friday afternoon.  The child had been quite ill for over a week with a
diptheriti-sore throat but hopes of her recovery were entertained until
about two days before her death when symptoms of genuine diptheria
appeared.  Everything possible was done to preserve her life, but to no
avail.  The bereaved family have the most sincere sympathy of the
community.  Little Mary is the second child they have lost within the past
month.  They are also consoled by the certain knowledge that their two
little children are at present in heaven.  A short time before their Mary
passed away she called loved ones about her bedside.  Her face was
radiant, indicating that she was seeing into the future.  She told those
about her that she was "going to see little sister Nellie." who died about
two weeks before.  She gave messages of love to those about her and
remembered her brother, John D. Cornett, who was not present at the time. 
A little later she turned her face to the wall and said: "I am dieing."
and uttered the prayer - "God bless you."

DEATHS.  At the family residence in this city on last Friday, Nov. 25, in
the afternoon, the six-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. Cornett from
an attack of diptheria.  This was the second child they have lost by this
dreadful malady, but there has not been a case in another family in the
town.  These good people have the deepest sympathy of the entire community
in their sore affliction.
