Cupp. Her sisters of the Eastern Star conducted the funeral services at the Christian church here Monday evening, after which she was enterred (sic) at the Erick cemetery. Sister Cupp was 49 years of age, the mother of seven children, ranging in ages from 9 to 23 years, all of whom are living. For years she has been a devoted christian mother, loving her Lord and persuading others to see him as their Saviour. Her husband, an upright man, could not agree with his wife on instantaneous conversion, and drifted along, but Sunday night, weighed down with grief, his soul heard the Master's voice. The family have been among our dearest friends for years, and while we sorrowfully say goodbye to a sister with whom we have worshipped often, and whose heart reached up with ours with God, we are made to rejoice that brother Cupp sees his way clear to a "better country." That God's blessings will abound into the bereaved father and children is our prayer - Serving Him, J. M. Wileman. For the first time in the history of the Erick Chapter of the order of the Eastern Star, a cloud of sorrow surrounds them, on account of the death of their beloved Sister Cupp. Her remains were brought from Mayfield to be interred in the Erick cemetery. The funeral procession was met by the order of the Eastern Star and escorted to the Christian church, where after a prayer by Bro. Betcher at the dying request of Sister Cupp. The beautiful ritual ceremony of the order was carried out in full in the presence of many friends and relatives of the deceased. During the ceremony her white casket was covered with white carnations as a tribute of the ferency (sic) of the affection in which she was held by the order, also a large emblematic star with colors appropriate to the order was placed upon her grave by the members. These floral offerings having been ordered from Oklahoma City. (22 Feb 1912, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Zach. Cupp. After an illness lasting less than a week, Mrs. Zach.
