DAVIS, SARAH E.
(16 Jan 1913, Thursday, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
On last Saturday people of this community were shocked by receiving the
sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Sarah E. Davis formerly of Erick but
for the past several months of Comanche, Tex.  Mrs. Davis was the wife of
Samuel T. Davis and mother of Mesdames L. M. Smith (Arah B.), J. M. Meador
(Jimmie) of Erick, Mrs. J. T. Childress of Prentiss and four daughters and
three sons who live in Texas.
Mrs. Davis had been in poor health for several months before the end come
(sic) but on the morning of the day she died Friday Jan. 10 she seemed
unusually well she ate a hearty dinner about noon after which she retired
to her room and two p.m. she was found lifeless on the bed.
Mrs. Davis was a sweet spirited Christian old lady who was beloved by
every one who knew her.  She was 68 years old and had been a consistent
member of the Baptist Church since her young womanhood.
Funeral services were held at Comanche, Tex., and interment of her remains
were made in the cemetery there.
The people of this community extend most sincere sympathy to bereaved
husband and other surviving loved ones especially those who by right of
kinship were permitted to call her mother or grandma.  They have the
consolation of knowing that she is now in peace with her God whom she
delighted to serve while here on earth.
