DAVIS, LAWRENCE DECANTER
(19 Dec 1911, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Answers Last Roll Call.
Lawrence Decanter Davis was born in Halifax county, Va., June 22, 1836,
died at the home of his son north of Erick, Sunday night, December 17, at
11 o'clock p.m.  Mr. Davis moved from Virginia in 1869 and from Texas he
came to Beckham (then Greer) county Oklahoma in 1889, and since that time
he has resided here up to his death.  Mr. Davis was a confederate veteran
and was well known as a kind and generous man and loved by all who knew
him.  He was a scholar of the old school, and was well versed in several
different languages.
The Democrat extends condolence to the relatives and friends in their hour
of sorrow.
