The Republican force is in mourning this week and hardly feels like printing this issue of the paper. Bob Ellis died Saturday evening, Bob has been setting type for the Messenger and Republican for the past three years. The words, lines and columns you have been reading during that time in those two papers have been the result of his painstaking efforts. For he was an efficient workman as well as a master mechanic and took pride in his work. Robt. H. Ellis spent several years in Erick; he having attended the Erick public schools in 1908 9-10 and learned the printing trade in this office. In the death of our brother, we lose a good brother; the wife a good husband and the children a good father - but the way of the world must be fulfilled. While we mourn his early departure we feel that He who rules the world new (sic) what was best, and we bow to His Will. ----- J. Carl Ellis of Oklahoma City and brother, L. E. Ellis, editor of the Beckham County Democrat at Erick, have been here this week on account of the illness of their brother, Bob Ellis, the Republican's linotype operator. -- Cherokee Republican. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
