The parting with the old at death is always sad, but the parting with the young, with their innocent ways, their love and affection is still sadder. Those who are left are deprived of the sweet companionship and beloved face. They look back at what might of been if cruel fate had not stepped in and carried away the one they loved so well. Weep not kind father and mother, for remember that Jesus said: "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of God." William Riley Ernest was a member of the Methodist Sunday school. His classmates will miss him from his usual place; his teacher will miss his smiling face. Little William leaves three small brothers, Jody, Finnis and John, and a sister named Ada, to mourn his early departure. The funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church by Rev. Hoyle. A large concourse of sympathizing friends attended the funeral services. The remains were laid to rest in the Erick cemetery. (28 Mar 1912, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Billy Ernest Dead. Billy, as he was familiarly known among his playmates, the nine-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ernest, died at their home here Saturday from a heart trouble that was the result of a serious attack of pneumonia about one year ago. The funeral services were held from the M. E. Church Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hoyle, and the remains were interred in the Erick cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this part of the county. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
