(13 May 1909, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): IVA FLOYD IS DEAD. The son of J. G. and L. E. Floyd, died at the home of his parents, one mile north and one-half mile east of Erick, on the 6th of May at 11 o'clock p.m., age 17 years and 9 months. Iva was a young man of sterling qualities. He was noted for a young man of piety. The law of obedience to his parents was the one underlying principle that characterized his daily life at home and abroad, which made his life of great influence; though he was yet in his youth. Such lives are invaluable. His life was short, though it will not be forgotten. After the funeral service, which was conducted at the home, we laid him to rest in the Erick cemetery to wait the resurrection of the just. Iva was a christian; he gave his heart to God last year and his life was a public demonstration of his christianity. Would say to his loved ones, be faithful to God and your duty in this life and all will be right in the end. The large crowd which attended the funeral and burial showed the high esteem the people held toward the family and their loved one. May the God of all grace comfort them in these said hours. W. M. Taylor, P. C. (13 May 1909, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. Ivy Floyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Floyd, died about 11 p.m., last Thursday night at the home of his parents after having suffered two weeks in consequence of an injury received in a runaway accident. Ivy was an exemplary young man, 17 years and 9 months old, was converted about a year ago but had not affiliated with any church, although he habitually attended the Methodist church to which his parents belong. Besides his parents, Ivy is survived by two younger brothers and one sister younger than he. Interment was made Friday at Erick cemetery, Rev. W. M. Taylor, assisted by Rev. J. F. Elder, conducting the funeral services. (20 May 1909, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): RESOLUTIONS. God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to remove from our midst our beloved Sunday School scholar and classmate, Ivy Floyd, on the sixth day of May, 1909. In his death our Sunday School has lost one of its most faithful members and there is left a vacant chair that will be hard to fill. To the bereaved parents we would say, "Weep not, for your loss is his gain, but love and serve the Master and you will see him again where there will be no more sad partings." And let a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of our Sunday School and a copy furnished the family of the deceased.
