GARDNER, ELIZABETH BARTHENIA
(17 Nov 1927, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
The sad news of the sudden death of Mrs. Gardner of Delhi was received by
her son here early Tuesday morning.  Obituary will appear next week.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barthenia Gardner was born in Ala. April 5th 1850 and
departed this life November 15, 1927., at her home in the Delhi community,
Oklahoma, where she has lived with her family for 28 years.
Mrs. Gardner was married to W. S. Gardner, January 11th, 1872.  To this
union was born eight children, 1 dying in infancy, and 1 burning to death
at 7 years.  With the husband, Mr. W. S. Gardner, there is left to mourn
her loss the six children who are all present, namely: W. D. Gardner; J.
M. Gardner; W. L. Gardner; Mrs. Zella Bryan; Clella Gardner; and J. T.
Gardner.  Also, two brothers, one present, and one sister, with a host of
other relatives and friends.
She was converted at an early age, but joined the Delhi Baptist Church in
1902.  She was a faithful companion, a loving mother and a consecrated
christian.  Blessed with a long life and a fine family she came to the end
without much suffering and lays down to rest in peaceful slumber.
Rev. S. S. Wilson, who was her pastor at one time, and Rev. B. A.
Etheredge conducted the funeral services at her home and at the cemetery
at Delhi where she was laid to rest until the Resurrection morning.
