A. Gilbert's Father Dead. Our esteemed fellow townsman Mr. Ab Gilbert returned last week from Collinsworth (sic), Texas, where he had been in response to a telegram announcing the serious illness of his father. Mr. Gilbert failed to reach the bedside of his father in time to see him alive. Mr. T. A. Gilbert died March 4, 1913, at his home near Collinsville, Texas, aged about 68 years. He had been sick only about 5 days his death being due to a stroke of paralysis. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at Collinsville by Mr. Gilbert's pastor, Elder E. H. Rogers, and interment was made in the Collinsville Cemetery. Mr. Gilbert had been a consistent member of the Christian Church for a number of years and the example of his upright living will linger in the memory of those who know him until they shall have gone to join him in the Great Beyond. Mr. Gilbert is survived by his widow and five children as follows: Ella (Mrs. M. Tipton of Collinsville, Texas); Janey (Mrs. W. S. Miller of Tioga, Texas); Myrtle (Mrs. Joseph Woolsey of Rockport, Indiana); Charles Gilbert of Paris, Texas; Henry A. The bereaved widow will continue to live at the old home with her youngest son, Mr. Lee Gilbert. Mr. Ab Gilbert has the sympathy of his many friends here in his bereavement. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
