GLISSON, ELIAS W.
(18 Jul 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. E. W. Glisson was born Jan., 8th, 1868.  He departed this life July
10th, at the age of 61 years, 6 months and 3 days.  He was married to Miss
Lou J. McAlister, May 1st, 1892, and to this union three children were
born.  His wife preceeded him in death, having passed away on January
10th, 1929.  He leaves three children, Mr. Homer Glisson; Mr. Nolan
Glisson and Mrs. Bonnie Madge Curtis, three brothers and three sisters and
a host of friends and other relatives to mourn his death.  Services were
conducted at the Baptist Tabernacle, by Rev. S. N. Wilson on July 12th,
after which his remains were deposited in the a new made grave in the
Erick cemetery.
"Bill" as he was known by the people of this community settled in this
part of Beckham in the early days, and it can truly be said that he was
one of the pioneers of this section who assisted in blazing the way for
settlement.  He was always of a jolly disposition, and it was a pleasure
to meet him.  For several years Mr. Glisson was engaged in writing life
insurance in this territory and many a bereaved family, would have been in
poverty, if it had not been for the fact that Mr. Glisson had insisted
upon the father taking some life insurance for their loved ones.  Bill was
a friend to all mankind and in this sad hour we extend our sympathy to the
bereaved.
Every business firm in our city closed from 1 to 3 o'clock to attend the
funeral.
