(23 Feb 1912, Texola Herald, Texola, Beckham Co, OK): James William Haddock, age 20 years, 11 months and 20 days, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. M. A. Haddock in Erick, Oklahoma, Tuesday, February 20, 1912, at 2:50 p.m. About two weeks ago James was taken sick with conjestion (sic) of the lungs, which developed later into pneumonia. All that loving hands and medical skill could do to save him was done. "Jim" as all the boys knew him was a favorite among us, free hearted and a Christian gentleman. He always had a pleasant word for every one, was upright and honest in his business dealings, and true to his friends. He joined the Christian church about seven years ago and at the time of his death he was a sincere Christian, believing in Jesus and his teachings. The deceased leaves a mother and five sisters, with a multitude of friends to mourn his early demise. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to the bereaved mother and relatives in their hour of sorrow. - Democrat, Erick. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
