Hampton died Christmas morning about 3 o'clock after an illness of about two weeks. Her death was especially saddening in that she had been a wife less than three months and the bereavement is perhaps harder for her husband to bear. As Miss Lena Rogers, Mrs. Hampton had been endeared to the people of this community because of her unselfish devotion to those whom she could help, always willing to sacrifice her own comforts for the cause of the needy and afflicted she was in truth a sweet spirited christian lady. A devoted member of the Baptist church. The funeral was held at the church Christmas day. Rev. Elder pronounced a beautiful eulogy upon her life. Interment was made in the Erick cemetery. She is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. "Spy" Rogers, her brothers Henry, Wilber and Rufe Rogers who live in this vicinity and others, Lee and George Rogers of Brown county, Texas. Her sister Mrs. Gus Korth who formerly lived here and her bereft husband Mr. Mike T. Hampton. ---------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
