(22 May 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): ROGER MILLS COUNTY SHERIFF DIES IN TEXAS Gainesville, Texas, May 18th. - Frank Hancock, 36 years old, sheriff of Roger Mills county, Okla., died of heart disease on a passenger train reaching here Saturday midnight from the south. The body was shipped to Cheyenne, where Hancock's widow and two children reside. (Beckham County Democrat notes) Mr. Hancock was well known in this county and by local peace officers who will regret to hear of his untimely death. (22 May 1930, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Heart Trouble Was Cause of Roger Mills Sheriff's Death. Funeral services were held Tuesday for Frank H. Hancock, 36, Sheriff of Roger Mills county, who was found dead on a train enroute to Gainesville, Texas, early Sunday morning. Hancock had been a resident of this section of the state for a number of years. Before his election to the office of Sheriff, Hancock was a farmer living near Herring. Through courtesy to the deceased officer the term of district court which was to have convened in Cheyenne Monday was postponed indefinitely. Hancock was elected to office two years ago on the republican ticket. He has been active in the criminal affairs of the county since his election. The Legionnaires of the Hammon and Cheyenne posts were in charge of the funeral services. The officer was a member of the Hammon post. He is survived by his widow and two children. (29 May 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services for F. H. Hancock, county sheriff of Roger Mills county, who died suddenly on the train while on the way to Gainesville, Texas, Sunday, to appear as a witness in liquor charges against Strong City men, were conducted Tuesday. Hancock was 36 years old. While he had been sheriff the past two years, he had waged a consistent law enforcement of the prohibition law, and was on his way to appear as a witness on liquor cases, when death occurred.
