All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HEARD, JAMES RICHARD (27 Mar 1930, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): OBITUARY. J. R. Heard was born in Van Zant County, Texas, November 23rd, 1868. He gave his life to Jesus and united with the M. E. Church in his boyhood days. He was married to Miss Ella Turner of Ben Wheller, Texas, in 1889. To this union seven children were born. His wife and three children preceded him in death. He was married to Cordelia Isom, August 7th, 1905. To this union five children were born, two which preceded him in death. He departed this life March 20th, 1930, at Dalhart, Texas, at the age of 61 years, 3 months and 27 days. He leaves to mourn his departure of the immediate family, his wife and five sons and two daughters, namely: J. R. Heard, Harley Heard, Oliver Heard of Childress, Texas. Orlia, Marvin, J. L. and Lemar Heard of Hatley, Texas. Mrs. Onia Loudermilk of Anadarko, Oklahoma and Mrs. Bertha Gee of Erick, Oklahoma, all of whom were present at the funeral. He also leaves seven brothers and two sisters, all of whom were present. They were Jess Heard of Ben Wheeler, Texas; E. A. and W. W. Heard of Canton, Texas; J. C. Heard of Vernon, Texas, and A. C. Heard of Jester, Oklahoma. He also leaves a host of other relatives to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, March 21st, at the Methodist church conducted by Rev. J. C. Morris and Rev. J. L. Davis, followed by interment in Erick cemetery, under the direction of Fatheree Undertakers. CARD OF THANKS.
