All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ HERRING, HERMAN (4 Dec 1913, Thursday, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Death of Herman Herring. Taken just as he entered young manhood. Was well known in Erick having spent a number of years here leaving at the death of his father to seek employment in the business house of his uncle in towns East of here. His untimely death, which occurred at the Elk City Hospital, was due to an attack of Typhoid fever. Deceased was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Herring and was born Dec. 17th, 1893. Died November 24th, 1913. He was therefore 19 yrs. 11 mos 10 days of age. Both father and mother preceded Herman only a short time in the crossing of the Great Divide as did also an elder brother. Two brother(s) and three sisters are left to mourn the bright young brother - they are Charlie Herring of this place, the other brother resides in Hamilton Co., Texas. The sisters are Mrs. Brown of Moberly, Mo., Mrs. Childress of Foss, Okla., and Mrs. Graham of Allen, Okla. The remains were brought to Erick and funeral services held Tuesday at 2:30 P.M. at the Christian Church where Herman was always in attendance at all the services during his residence here. We hear many loving expressions that the old friends and school mates pour out concerning him and a high valuation is given his character by those who knew him best. Rev. Carmen conducted the funeral services.
