D. Warford received a telephone from Mrs. O. H. Ward last night, informing him that her mother, Mrs. Amanda Horn, died last night at 10 p.m., and that her body would be sent to Erick Friday for burial. Mrs. Horn has been living at Ada, Oklahoma, for the past few years. (3 Jul 1924, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Amanda Horn Dead. Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Horn, who died at Ada, Okla., Wednesday evening were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Erick Friday at 4 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. T. Means of Sayre, assisted by Rev. Glance of the Presbyterian Church in Erick and the remains were accompanied from Ada by Mrs. Leonora Ward, Miss Abbie Horn, Jesse C. Horn, and Mrs. J. W. Hollingsworth, all children of the deceased. Mrs. R. H. Wilmoth, an adopted daughter, and grandchildren, Fred H. Ward, of Pauls Valley and Barlett Ward of Erick. Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Wall of Sayre joined the party to show respect to their old friend and console the bereaved. The deceased was for many years a highly respected and beloved citizen of Erick, having moved here from Sherman, Tex., in 1906. She removed to Ada several years ago. The husband, Mr. Asa W. Horn, died here in 1907 and was laid to rest in the Erick cemetery to which place the remains of the wife were brought Friday. Interment was made in the cemetery immediately after the ceremonies at the church, at which place the large concourse of mourning friends and many floral tributes gave evidence of the high esteem in which Mrs. Horn was held here. The deceased was 81 years of age, having been born in Westerville, Ohio, March 14, 1843. In 1868 she was married to Asa W. Horn of that city. Immediate surviving relatives are the son and daughters and the adopted daughter who brought the remains here to rest. Mr. Horn living at Ft. Worth, Mrs. Ward at Erick, Mrs. Hollingsworth at Sherman, Miss Horn at Ada, and Mrs. Wilmoth at Oklahoma City. (3 Jul 1924, Thursday, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Wall and Rev. J. T. Means spent Friday at Erick in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Amanda Horn, of Ada, Oklahoma. Mrs. Horn was one of the pioneer settlers of Erick, moving there from Sherman, Texas, in 1906. In 1917 she and her daughter, Miss Horn removed to Norman for two years, later going to Ada to make their home where Miss Horn has held the chair of English in the Southeastern Normal for two years. A large concourse of friends gathered at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon to pay their respects to Mrs. Horn, whom they had so respected when she lived in their midst. Mr. Horn died in 1907 and was buried in Erick. Surviving Mrs. Horn are three daughters, Mrs. Leonora Ward of Weatherford; Miss Abbie Horn of Ada; Mrs. Mattie Hollingsworth of Sherman, Texas; and a son Jesse Horn of Ft. Worth, Texas. All were present at the funeral, as was also an adopted daughter, Mrs. Robert Wilmoth of Oklahoma City and F. W. Ward of Pauls Valley, a grandson.
