(7 Jan 1909, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Died. Grandma Hunter died at the home of her grandson, Mr. A. T. Pearson, in Erick, Monday night, about 12 o'clock, Jan. 4, 1909. Mrs. Hunter came to Beckham county from Arkansas about a year ago; since which time she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Pearson and grandchildren, Messrs. A. T. and Clede Pearson. She lived to the advanced age of 84 years. She had been a consistent member of the M. E. church South, for more than 50 years. She was a widow of a Mason of high standing and the Erick Masonic lodge held appropriate services Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. church. Rev. Taylor preached the funeral sermon. Interment was in Erick cemetery. Deceased is survived by her widowed daughter, Mrs. J. T. Pearson, and two grandsons, A. T. and Clede Pearson, and numerous great-grandchildren. (7 Jan 1909, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. On the morning of the 5th of January, 1909, Mrs. Hunter, at the residence of her grandson, A. T. Pearson in Erick, of old age. Her husband was a Mason in high standing and the Masonic lodge of Erick held appropriate services over her death at the opera house in the afternoon, which was largely attended by the members of the order and citizens of Erick. (14 Jan 1909, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. January 5th, at 12:30 a.m., Mrs. L. C. Hunter (better known as Grandma Hunter) at the home of Pearson Bros. Sister Hunter was born in Larence (sic) County, Tennessee, 1824, and moved to Arkansas when 6 years old, and was married to Enor C. Hunter in 1848. Was converted and joined the M. E. Church South in 1849. After she had lived 84 years, 5 months, and 17 days, God said it is enough, come up higher. Her funeral was conducted by the Pastor, assisted by Bro. Shaw of the Baptist Church and Bro. Robertson of the Presbyterian church, for which we are very grateful. We also acknowledge the kind assistance of the Mason brethren. We laid her to rest in the Erick cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Pearson and many grandchildren to mourn their loss. May the same faith which strengthened her for the battles of life be with them in life. Her Pastor - W.
