(6 Feb 1908, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Ella B. Isom was a valued correspondent of the Democrat and we sincerely regret to chronic (sic) her death. Born June 11, 1889, Chariton county, Mo., died February 2, 1908, Mayfield, Oklahoma, aged 18 years, 5 months and 21 days. John H. Cupp and Martha A. Cupp, parents of the deceased, are natives of the state of Missouri and emigrated to this country several years ago. Of their eight children, William W., Jessie J., Cleveland Z., Claud M., Loyd H., and Rilda A., Minnie E., and Ella B.., Ella B. was the youngest of the three daughters. Her early childhood home was in Chariton county, Missouri. She was united to the Baptist church, September 29, 1906, was married to Marion L. Isom, March 10, 1907. She died of pneumonia at her home near Mayfield, Sunday at 2 o'clock p.m. Funeral services were held Monday 2 o'clock p.m., at the Mayfield church, by Bro. Wilson. Interment immediately following in the adjoining cemetery. She leaves an infant girl baby, who cannot mourn her loss, until the consciousness of coming years reveals in her own personality the characteristics of good blood and kind disposition, peculiar to its otherwise forgotten mother. The entire community regrets the death of a noble Christian lady, just entering upon the highway of an active social life, but fate has probably done the best. (20 Feb 1908, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Ella Cupp Isom, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cupp was born in Chariton county, Mo., nine miles southeast of Marceline, June 11, 1889, died Feb. 2, 1908, age 18 years, 7 months and 21 days. She spent her early girlhood in the community of her birth, coming to Oklahoma overland in a wagon, landing here June 1 1902. Has resided here ever since. Was married March 10, 1907, to Marion L. Isom. To them was born a daughter, Leona Ella Evelyn, Jan. 27, 1907. The death of such a one is always sad. The young husband has the sympathy of all who know him in the sad bereavement that has deranged his plans and hopes for this world. Funeral services were conducted at the Mayfield school house at 1 p.m., by Rev. S. N. Wilson of the Baptist church. Remains were laid to rest in the Mayfield cemetery. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
