(2 Aug 1923, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Last Tuesday evening Dr. I. A. Lee was stricken with paralysis of the heart. He had just returned to his office from visiting a patient, when the stroke attacked him and rendered him unconscious, from which condition he failed to rally, passing out of the world at 12:15 Wednesday morning. Dr. Lee was 47 years of age. Funeral arrangements have not been completed as we go to press. Next week's paper will contain his obituary. (2 Aug 1923, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF DR. I. A. LEE The people of Elk City were greatly shocked Wednesday when they heard of the death of Dr. I. A. Lee, of Erick. Dr. Lee died of neuralgie of the heart and was ill less than 12 hours, having an attack while in his office in the afternoon and dying at 1:15 Wednesday morning. Dr. Lee has suffered from nephritis for several years, but had no serious attacks lately, before the one causing his death. Dr. Lee and family were former residents of Elk City, where he did medical practice for a couple of years. They came here from Erick and returned there more than a year ago. While here they made a host of friends who join the News Democrat in extending deepest sympathy to the bereaved family. The funeral will be held at Erick Thursday afternoon. A number of people from Elk City will attend the services. (9 Aug 1923, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Dr. I. A. Lee passed away at his home in Erick, Wednesday morning, Aug. 1, 1923, with paralysis of the heart. Dr. Lee was born Dec. 31, 1875 at Fordsville, Ky., in which state the family resided. After completing his medical course at Louisville, Ky., and Kansas City, Mo., Dr. Lee practiced medicine in his native state, and from there he moved to Arkansas, locating at Magazine, until coming here about 12 years ago. The remains were laid to rest in the Erick cemetery, Thursday, Aug. 2, 1923. The deceased is survived by a wife, three sons and two daughters. During his residence in Erick, Dr. Lee had made many friends among our people; in fact, it is not probably that he had an acquaintance who did not respect and like him for the admirable and considerate traits of character which he exhibited in his association and dealings with his fellow man. He lived quietly and honorably, and leaves behind a record of many good deeds that his skill and knowledge of medicine afforded the suffering public. He was always ready to answer the call of the sick and afflicted, and almost every home in this vicinity, can testify to his untiring efforts in relieving the sufferings of some dear one to them. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Masonic lodge; and a man of refinement and splendid character. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Harry DeVore of Elk City, Oklahoma, after which the remains were turned over to the Masonic order for interment. The many friends of the family extended their sympathy in this time of bereavement. Card of Thanks. We wish to extend our most sincere thanks to our friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our esteemed husband and father, also the beautiful floral offering.
